On October 11, 2015, the NSDAR sponsored a national day of service in recognition of the founding of the DAR 125 years ago.  Chapters nationwide were encouraged to complete special service projects on that day.  Two local chapters chose to clean historic cemeteries. The Fairfax Chapter worked at the Summers Cemetery on Lincolnia Road.  The Anna Maria Fitzhugh chapter worked at the Clark’s Chapel cemetery in Springfield.  Both service projects helped preserve these cemeteries.
