African American relatives of those buried in the cemetery stated that their families have lived on this land for over a hundred years and that the cemetery is at least that old. The earliest recorded burial was 1885 and the most recent was 1999. The cemetery stretches in a long strip for 135 feet. There are handmade and commercial markers and unmarked burials in the cemetery. The Joyce Kilmer Intermediate School’s fence runs the length of the cemetery. The cemetery is watched over and maintained by descendants who live nearby. (FCCPA Survey October 2009)
