This family cemetery is located in Chantilly in an industrial/commercial area. The John Hutchison brick home was built between 1757 and 1785. The property and home remained in the Hutchison family until 1943. The Hutchison home is a commercial building today; the cemetery lies behind the parking lot of the building.

The cemetery has a split rail fence and only one inscribed marker: Reverend Richard Major and his wife, Sarah. There are a few field stones used as markers and non-inscribed stones scattered around. The family descendants report that there were many more markers which had been placed in a pile and disappeared in the 1940s. The family relates that the following were buried there: John and Rosamond Hutchison; John and Rosamond’s son Samuel, who served in the American Revolution, and Samuel’s wife, Martha (Moss) Hutchison; Sanford M. Hutchison and his wife Frances Moss (Fitzhugh) Hutchison. Sanford served in the war of 1812. The last reported burial was circa 1904.

Reverend Richard Major and his wife moved to Virginia circa 1767. In 1768, he was ordained a minister and later became the first minister of Frying Pan Baptist Meeting House. According to Hutchison family records, Reverend Major was a preacher and a blacksmith. In 1778, he bought 21 acres from John Hutchison. Reverend Major’s daughter Sarah married Andrew Hutchison, son of John Hutchison.

In November 2010, the cemetery was very overgrown until members of the Burke Historical Society cleaned it.
