Taliaferro/Carter Cemetery and the Willie Preston gravesite are located near Sudley Road, in Centreville. Members of the Fairfax County Cemetery Association first visited the cemetery in November 2009. At that time a golf course was next to the cemetery and gravesite. Now suburban homes are being built nearby. The cemetery, which is associated with the family home Sudley, is surrounded by a disintegrated stone wall and is approximately 50 feet square. There are seven marble headstones, an obelisk and over 15 unmarked burials. Most of the headstones are displaced and/or broken. Currently, an obelisk marker has been laid down to protect it from the rumble of construction vehicles. Dead trees and brush cover most of the cemetery.
